Ice Ledges +1 Lock on Characters and Adventurers that Attack without Flight or Ranged.

So for Characters you'd check the card and lock whoever is trying to attack without flight or ranged right?

For Adventurers you could decide not to attack with some of them to avoid the lock right? Or you could use crawler cards to attack with ranged or to cause flight which would avoid the lock correct?

You don't just lock everybody down without flight or ranged straight away right? Or do you? Just needing a little clarification of that card in general I guess please.

You do not try to lock down anyone unless they attack. All Characters that can attack do so. You can choose if you want some Adventurers to attack or not (advantage Adventurers). If you give them Ranged or Flight, they can ignore the locking effect.

One more question about this card. Does the attack complete before they (character or adventurer) become locked or are they locked immediately upon trying to attack, without being able to follow through?

They complete the attack first.

Very good and thanks again. Its reassuring to know that the logical way I'm approaching the verbage used on these cards, and in the rules, is similar to the way I'd understand it to be. Oh I'm sure I'll come across an encounter that might stump me but that's the fun of the challenge. Bye for now. 8-)
